Hello all,
I'm from Doncaster and have been keeping Tropicals for approx 10 years and have always fancied having a go at keeping Marines. At the weekend I went out with the intention of buying a replacement for my ageing 2ft6 Tropical tank with the intention to keep the tropicals. I ended up buying a brand new Fluval Roma 200.
With cabinet set up and tank pride of place in the front room, I'm really considering biting the bullet and letting the Tropicals go with a view to setting the new tank up as a Marine tank.
Since the weekend I've spent hours upon hours researching, and have to admit to being at a real cross roads with it. The heads a shed!
Its the vibrancy of the colours of the fish that attracts me and the wife to the marines and so at this stage corals aren't on the wish list at this stage.
Basically, I already have the tank. What are the need to have's for me to be able to keep a decent amount of Marine fish?
With a 'blank canvas' 200l tank, what would be your next steps towards setting up?
Any help/words of advice would be greatly appreciated.
Tom

Hi Tom, welcome to SYRG find a good LFS and get some good advice if they try to sell, sell, sell just walk away good shops will tell you the con's and not just the pro's to marine keeping
go for the best you can afford as buying the budget end of equipment is a false economy Cheap live rock is also a waste of time, good high grade stuff should be £12 to £15 per kg and it's the most important part of your system so don't scrimp on it Start with 10 to 15 kg and build on that buy cheep....., buy twice.!! and don't rush anything
