Hey guys and gals
Firstly I would like to say sorry for being a little quiet for the last few months, but I have been snowed under at work, and to top it off I have also moved house (again).
For those of you who dont know the backround, I used to live in winchester hampshire. I then got offered a job as a regional manager for midland reef, however I would have to relocate. I obviously did this, however my tank did not move with me.
Any way, now we are settled in our new house I have finally got it running again. Unfortunatly I havnt got round to taking any pics of the new arrangement, but I will get on this ASAP.
Here is a basic rundown of the tank though:
Tank: The tank is 60x40x40cm rimless all optiwhite (inc base) I made this myself as I wanted to ensure every thing was exactly as I wanted it. It has a central wier with 3 holes. One is a durso for water from the tank to the sump, one is a return pipe from the sump, and one is a dry pipe for wires ect. I have used an ikea unit with a high gloss black door as the stand.
Here are a couple of pics from when I biult the tank:
Sump: The sump is a simple 2 chamber affair. The first chamber hold all the equipment, while the second chamber houses the return pump.
Equipment: Over the years I have tried most ways of running a reef tank. And as a self confessed SPS junkie I like to keep my no3 and po4 to a minimum. For this reason I have opted to run this tank on a phos reactor and a nitrate reactor.
Bellow is a list of all my equipment:
2x hydor koralia nano 12v on a controller
1x sicce syncra silent 1.5 retrun pump
1x misc phos reactor
1x sicce mi mouse (phos reactor feed)
1x deltec pf509. Modified into a nitrate reactor, and also modified to replace the stock aquabee pump with a sicce syncra 0.5
1x hydor performer 400 skimmer
1x atc 300 temp controller
1x aquadigital pH controller
2x DIY peri dosing pumps (one as the de-nitrafier feed and one to dose carbon source)
1x betta 2x 24w t5 unit
Additives: At the moment as there is practicly no livestock in ther additives are at a minimum. I do however dose a carbon source (VSV) into the nitrate reactor and tank. I also use reef scientific phos remover in my reactor and change this as needed.
I do plan on using a basic balling system once I feel it is needed, but at the moment it doesnt seem worth it.
I do feed regular amounts of live phyto, and also live copeopods and rotifers regularly to keep natural life at a peak.
I will try and get a few pics for you soon and keep you updated on its progress.
cheers
