Hey I've been keeping marines for just over 18months now and loving it. I have a 240liter tank with a few hermit crabs 2 peppermint shrimp 1 fire shrimp 5 green chromis 1 toby 2 xenia 1 leather 1 mushroom 1 kenya tree. Move house recently and lost most of my livestock in the process (4 cleaner shrimp, 1 yellow tang, 1 mandarin)
Done lots of DIY projects due to lack of funding... Phosphate reactor overflow auto top off auto salt water change
Just starting to go down the SPS route so buying LED's very soon
any advice on keeping SPS would be great I'm living in the Dearne area if anyones close and wants to swap frags that would be great.
cheers Joe

how longs the meet for? whats is a57 aquatics? I'll see if I can get time off work to come.
I've made 2 overflows in my fantastic 18months of reef keeping: 1: siphon overflow made from acrylic. pretty much custom made it to fit whren i needed it. (the whole tank was DIY) used a check valve on the top of the siphon area incase any air tried to get itself involved, I just used a airline tube on the check valve to suck up the water level if it had dropped. It very hard to explain the setup of it in words I'd have to do a drawing. It's long gone now 2: as I now have fluval roma 240 setup with pre cut holes in the bottom. I used the fittings it came with, then used 50mm drain tubes (2 of in black) I stuck them down around each hole. so its a weir (how ever it's spelt) one is higher than the other so I have a backup incase the lower one gets blocked. I had a clown jump down one so I've meshed them both at the top. other than that I've no trouble at all with it. compaired to the siphon that needed checking everyother day and priming every 2 to 3 weeks. But never had a clown fish stuck in it! (the clown survived, I just blocked the flow into my sump causing the 50mm tube to fill up and with abit of encouragment the clown jumped back out)
Cheers joe
