i use nopox as the main phos removal
but i have now added a bag of rowaphos to my external
my last phos reading done 2 weeks ago was 0.02 and i dont trust it as i thnk the hair algae is using a lot
i also left the old t5 lights i had longer than i would normaly use em on the tank as i was saving money to change to leds but have now changed to leds and the hair algae has gone crazy
i feed 2 blocks of frozen a day plus 1 pinch of flake and a small pinch of pellets and it is always gone in less than 2 mins
i have orderd some mexican turbo snails that came today and will see if they help keep the algea down a bit
on a good note since i pulled of loads of hair algae on sunday and did a water change it dosent apear to be growing as quick as before but i aint counting my chickens yet
i think its been a combination of me not having the time to do normal tank maintainence and leaving the old t5 bulbs on the tank a bit too long then after changeing to leds
i also hardly had any snails as i always seem to spend money on other stuff when i went to the lfs
the tank is 5ftx2ftx2ft with around 50kg of rock and stock fish wise is:
1 regal around 6 inch
1 yellow around 3 inch
1 orange spot goby
1 lawnmower blenny
1 sixline wrasse
2 clowns
1 mandarin
i dont run a sump but have a external fluval 405 filter
also have deltec mce600 skimmer
poweheads are 12000lph 3000lph and think its around 1800 from the external
i never had a prob till i didnt spend the time and money the tank needed as i was too busy at work but hopefully i can start and get on top off the problem
if you still want to pick my tank for tank of the month then thats fine but give us a few days notice to do a hair algae clean up first
if i get the chance i will get some photos of the tank on here so you can see
cheers
